Have you always had an interest in music or learning to play an instrument? Perhaps you’re wanting a new hobby or past-time? Our community music courses at Broward Community Schools can provide exactly that!
Guitar I
If you are wanting an enjoyable introduction to learning to play a guitar, this course is perfect. You’ll learn how to read simple melodies, music, and chords, including major and minor pentatonic scales, major, minor, and power chords.
You’ll also learn how to play chords and songs. We’ll address tuning your guitar, the different parts of your guitar, finger stretching exercises, and more. You do need to bring your own acoustic guitar for this course.
Guitar II
This class differs from Guitar I as it focuses on guitarists who want to accompany a vocalist. If there are no vocalists in the class, we’ll still cover songs, chords, rhythm strums, and note runs between chords. You’ll also learn how to read simple melodies, music, and chords in this class.
Students will also study major and minor pentatonic scales including major, minor, and power chords. Please note, you need your own acoustic guitar for this course.
